Review: Howard Jacobson

Readers who buy Howard Jacobson because the press tells them that he is “the first comic writer to win the Booker” are likely to be confused. Not disappointed – I cannot imagine anyone regretting reading him – but faintly baffled by the labels journalists paste on authors.

  1. A jolly radio 4 essayist – I like that. That’s a great little line.
    Nick, I’ve for a long time thought that very few could write a better satire on a good range of things than yourself.
    After this next book, is it not the time you cracked your knuckles in the world of fiction?
